Wentworth Community Housing have always been committed to ending homelessness – not only through providing affordable housing – but also through various initiatives in the Western Sydney communities. When they approached Spark, the website looked dated, was text-heavy, cumbersome to edit and lacked the visual presentation to showcase what Wentworth was all about.
01. Web Design
This project was a perfect marriage of design + technology. Visually, the new site is both impressive and welcoming. Spark ensured consistency of design elements with Wentworth’s brand guidelines. The use of a mega menu made the wealth of information easier for the user to navigate, and the content pages are colour coded according to the category they belong to. Selection of imagery ensured the target audience is well represented.
Understanding the organisation’s primary customer, a key requirement was to ensure that the new site is inclusive. Spark incorporated tools such as Text to Speech, which converts the pages’ content into an audio file so users can “listen” to the site. An Accessibility Menu was also made available, so users can adjust the way the website is presented to them based on their needs, with just a simple click. Google Translate also allows users to view the website in 18 different languages.
03. Content Management
Key to the success of a website project is empowering the owner to make future content changes in a cost effective way. Wentworth is able to keep their website up-to-date, with a content management system and full training provided by Spark.
